Math 5 Week 1 Homework

24 03 2009

Students are to complete p.291 and 292 chapter 8 review. The following links are online manipulatives that teach the relationship between perimeter and area:

http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks2/maths/perimeter_and_area/index.html

http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/PerimeterExplorer/?version=1.6.0_12&browser=MSIE&vendor=Sun_Microsystems_Inc.

It’s important that students recognize that rectangles with the same area have lengths and widths that are factors of the area. Eg A= 12 should have rectangles : (l=1 w=12), (l=2 w=6), (l=3,w=4).
